Russia continues attempts to seize all of Ukraine, most challenging situation in the east – Zelensky
The Russian Federation is still planning to seize the entire territory of Ukraine and replace its political leadership.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CNN, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“They [Russians – Ed.] did not give up their attempts [to seize Kyiv – Ed.] – we pushed them away, and they retreated. But, in general, within their state and within their military and political plans, [Russians] have not given up the occupation of our state and have not been giving up [this idea] for many years. These are their plans. They always occupied our state. First, politically. Then, it was Crimea, the Donbas, and now it is a full-scale invasion. Hence, Russia’s plans also include the replacement of political leadership and the occupation of our entire state. We are absolutely sure of this,” Zelensky told.
In his words, the situation is difficult all over Ukraine, but the most challenging situation is in the east.
“They [Russians –Ed.] have more artillery, MLRS, and they suffer higher losses. But, they count neither equipment nor human losses,” Zelensky noted, adding that the Ukrainian side makes every effort to save as many people as possible.
According to Zelensky, Ukrainians need assistance from partners to reduce the advantage of Russian troops in terms of equipment, mainly artillery systems.
Meanwhile, in southern Ukraine, the Ukrainian forces are holding back the aggressor and counterattacking in certain areas.
“In general, I would say it is necessary to stabilize the situation in the east,” the President of Ukraine added.
A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and bombarding peaceful Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians.
