Ukraine Army prevents Russian invaders from taking control of Vuhlehirska TPP

As part of offensive operations, Russian invaders were attempting to gain control over the area of Vuhlehirska Thermal Power Plant, but Ukrainian defenders did not allow them to do so.

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As of 06:00 a.m., July 9, 2022, the enemy’s actions in the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi directions remained rather unchanged. In the Siverskyi direction, Russian troops opened fire on Ukrainian positions near Chernihiv Region’s Senkivka and Mykolaivka and Sumy Region’s Esman and Oleksiivka.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian occupiers are defending the previously captured frontiers. The enemy used tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near such settlements as Yavirske, Stara Hnylytsia, Ukrainka, Mykilske, Bazaliivka, Ruski Tyshky, Cherkasky Tyshky, Piatyhirske, Prudianka, Chornohlazivka, Kutuzivka, Staryi Saltiv, Shestakove and Rubizhne.

In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy opened fire on civil infrastructure near Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske and Kramatorsk. Russian troops are conducting assault operations and attempting to advance near Hryhorivka. Battles are underway.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy shelling was recorded near Zaitseve, Berestove and Klynove. Russian troops launched an air strike near Spirne.

Through the offensive actions, Russian occupiers attempted to gain control over the area of Vuhlehirska TPP and improve their tactical position near Dolomitne. Ukrainian defenders prevented such attempts and pushed the enemy away to the previous positions.

In the Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, Ukrainian and Russian forces continue to open fire on each other’s positions all over the contact line. The enemy launched air strikes near Mali Shcherbaky.

In the Southern Bug direction, Russian troops continue to systematically open fire on civilian and military infrastructure with cannon and rocket artillery all over the contact line.

The threat of missile strikes on the region’s critical infrastructure is persisting.

According to the General Staff, Ukraine’s aviation, rocket and artillery units continue to successfully destroy the clusters of Russian troops, military equipment and ammunition depots. The enemy suffers significant losses.
