Number of Ukrainian children injured due to Russian aggression rises to 666
Russian troops have killed 353 children in Ukraine since February 24, according to data provided by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office.
“More than 1,019 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s armed aggression. As of the morning of July 18, 2022, the official number of children killed remained unchanged - 353. The number of children injured in the war exceeded 666,” the PGO’s press service wrote on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that these figures are not final, as work is underway in the areas of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
Most casualties were recorded in Donetsk region - 373, Kharkiv region – 191, Kyiv region - 116, Chernihiv region - 68, Luhansk region – 61, Mykolaiv region - 53, Kherson region – 52, and Zaporizhzhia region – 31.
On July 17, a 16-year-old boy was injured in Russian enemy shelling of the village of Novyi Donbas, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region.
On the same day, Russian forces once again shelled the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. Three children, aged 2, 3 and 9, were wounded. They have injuries of varying severity.
In addition, regular air strikes and shelling of civilian infrastructure and residential areas by the Russian armed forces damaged 2,138 educational institutions. Of which, 221 were completely destroyed.
