More Krab howitzers ready to be handed over to Ukraine - media
The first eight AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers produced by Poland under a defense contract with Ukraine are ready to be handed over to the recipient.
That's according to Polskie Radio 24, Ukrinform reports.
The equipment is waiting for the last formalities to be completed and will be transported to Ukraine, the report said.
Currently, the further training of soldiers from the Ukrainian army, who will operate the howitzers, is ending in Poland.
The report recalls that the eight Krabs for the Ukrainian army will not be donated as part of the support provided by the Polish government to Ukraine. This is happening as part of the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement that Poland and Ukraine concluded in Kyiv in early June. The contract is worth over PLN 3 billion and provides for the production by Huta Stalowa Wola for the Ukrainian army of about 60 Krabs and additional vehicles.
The first 18 Krab howitzers were delivered from Poland to Ukraine - as part of military support - in May.
In early June, Poland signed a defense contract with Ukraine worth PLN 2.7 billion (about $650 million) for the sale of Krab self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Poland earlier donated about $1.7 billion worth of military equipment to Ukraine. These include, in particular, 240 upgraded T-72 tanks, Piorun MANPADS, Krab self-propelled howitzers, as well as grenade launchers, artillery shells, etc.
