More than 530 civilians evacuated from Donetsk region over past day
More than 530 civilians have been evacuated from Donetsk region on August 6, according to the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
"On Sunday, August 7, 535 civilian residents of Donetsk region used the railway to get to safer regions of Ukraine and thus save their lives," the report reads.
The regional administration clarified that at the railway station in the city of Pokrovsk on August 7, assistance was provided to 535 civilians, including 27 children and 6 persons with physical disabilities.
As reported, Russian forces constantly shell Donetsk region, killing and injuring citizens, destroying the civilian infrastructure of the region. There has been no gas supply in the region and water supply in many populated areas for a long time. The enemy tries to break through the Ukrainian defense in several directions but fails and returns to its previous positions
No more than 235,000 people involved in the process of defense and maintenance of critical infrastructure should remain in Donetsk region by the autumn-winter period, while other people should all be evacuated. Until February 24, 1,670,000 people permanently lived in Donetsk region.
The mandatory evacuation of civilians from Donetsk region has begun. The first evacuation train arrived in Kropyvnytskyi on the morning of August 2.
