Russian invaders again fire at Zaporizhzhia NPP

Russian troops have opened fire on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the area close to the nuclear facility.

The press service of Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company reported on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, August 11, 2022, the rashists once again opened fire on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Ukraine and Europe. Five strikes were recorded in the area of the station commandant's office, which is located next to the welding area and the storage of radiation sources," the report reads.

It is noted that grass caught fire in a small area. There are no casualties.

“Five more strikes occurred in the area of the fire station, which is located not far from the ZNPP. As a result of shelling of the station, it was not possible to carry out a ‘shift change’ in time. For the safety of nuclear workers, the buses with the personnel for the next shift were turned back to Enerhodar. Until the situation is normalized, the workers of the previous shift will continue to work,” Energoatom said.

The situation at the station is currently under control. The information spread in Russian social networks that allegedly the staff is fleeing the station in a panic, is fake and manipulation, Energoatom emphasized.

As reported, UN Secretary General António Guterres has stated about the need to withdraw military personnel and equipment from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
