President’s Offices: Red Cross should thing about its purpose and reputation
The Ukrainian soldiers, who were taken from Azovstal into Russian captivity, legally defended the country, therefore the preparing of the so-called "Mariupol cages" for a sham trial is Russia’s official war crime.
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, wrote on Twitter.
“All prisoners of war, and in particular the “Azovstal” defenders are combatants who legally defended their country. Therefore, the "Mariupol cages" – Russia’s official war crime. Time for the ICRC and ICRC President Peter Maurer to remember about their purpose and think about their reputation,” Podolyak wrote.
As reported, in the temporarily captured Mariupol, the Russian invaders started installing prison cages at Mariupol Chamber Philharmonic in order to conduct a sham trial of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
