More than 7,000 civilians evacuated from Donetsk region – Vereshchuk

More than 7,000 people have been evacuated from Donetsk region since the start of a large-scale evacuation.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said this on Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Since August 1 of the current year, more than 7,000 people have used the Pokrovsk-Kropyvnytskyi free evacuation train. 45 of them are large families, about 1,500 children have already been evacuated, as well as about 500 elderly people with limited mobility," said Vereshchuk.

According to her, in general, the authorities plan to take at least 200,000 Ukrainians to safer places. At the same time, there are still many people who are not ready to leave their homes, Vereshchuk added.

"It is necessary to evacuate. The state is taking every effort to make such an evacuation less dramatic as possible," the minister stressed.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a mandatory evacuation of the population from Donetsk region. The first train arrived in Kropyvnytskyi on the morning of August 2.
