Russian war in Ukraine leaves 723 children injured

Two children were injured as a result of enemy shelling on August 21, bringing a total of injured and wounded minors to 723.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to Ukrinform.

"On August 21, the occupiers shelled the territory of Zelenodolsk in Dnipropetrovsk region, using cluster munitions. A local boy, 9, was wounded. Also, as a result of enemy shelling of Bashtanka, Mykolaiv region, a toddler, 1.5, was injured," the update says.

In general, as of the morning of August 22, the number of affected children across Ukraine has increased to 1,096.

"More than 1,096 children were affected as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of August 22, 2022, the official number of child deaths has not changed, remaining at 373. The number of injured and wounded children has increased to 723," the Prosecutor General's Office says.

Work is ongoing to verify data on child casualties coming in from the active hostility zones, temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

The largest number of affected children was reported in Donetsk region (387), Kharkiv region (202), Kyiv region (116), Chernihiv region (68), Mykolaiv region (65), Luhansk region (61), Kherson region (55), and Zaporizhia region (41).

As reported earlier, in Donetsk region, over the past day, on August 21, Russian invaders killed two civilians.
