Russian missile attack on residential building in Kharkiv: Death toll rises to 19
Rescuers have finished search operations in a three-story building destroyed by Russian shelling in the Saltiv district of Kharkiv on August 17, the total number of dead is 19 people.
"Today, search and rescue works have been completed. Rescuers reached the basement and inspected it. No bodies have been found in the past two days, so the total number of victims is 19. All those, whom relatives were looking for, have been found. Among the dead are 10 men, 8 women, and the gender of one more victim has not yet been determined due to significant body injuries," Dmytro Chubenko, a spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, told an Ukrinform correspondent.
As Ukrinform reported, on August 17 at around 21:30, a Russian Iskander missile hit a three-storey residential block in the Saltiv district of Kharkiv, completely destroying the building and causing a large-scale fire. According to the local officials, the destroyed building was a former dormitory for people with hearing impairments, which was serving as a regular residential block. Among the rescued are people with disabilities and children.
