EU plans major training operation for Ukrainian forces – Borrell
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced the EU's plans to launch a major training operation for Ukrainian forces.
"It seems reasonable that a war that is lasting and looks set to last requires an effort not only in terms of supplies of material," Borrell said at a press conference in Santander, northern Spain, The Telegraph informs.
He noted that several European Union countries were currently training Ukrainian military personnel on the basis of bilateral agreements, but the defense ministers of the EU member states would discuss the details and principles of organizing training operation for Ukrainian forces under the auspices of the European Union in Prague on August 29.
“It would be a big mission,” Borrell underscored.
As reported, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands have joined the training of the Ukrainian military in the UK.
