MFA: Russia must immediately stop shelling route of IAEA mission to Zaporizhzhia NPP
Russia must immediately stop shelling the route along which the IAEA’s mission is supposed to travel from Zaporizhzhia to the nuclear power plant.
Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“In violation of its commitments, the Russian army is heavily shelling the corridor through which the IAEA’s mission is supposed to travel from Zaporizhzhia to the nuclear power plant. Russia must immediately cease these dangerous provocations and allow the IAEA safe passage,” he wrote.
In turn, Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, wrote on Telegram that the Russian Federation shelled Enerhodar and the territory of the ZNPP, seeking to disrupt the visit of the IAEA mission and hide the truth about its crimes.
“The Russians shelled Enerhodar and the ZNPP territory. They want to disrupt the visit of the IAEA mission. These are the actions of a terrorist state, which is afraid that the world will learn the truth. It is Russia that is responsible for everything that happens at the ZNPP and in Enerhodar. Criminals must be stopped," Yermak emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported, on August 31, the IAEA mission arrived in Zaporizhzhia to visit the nuclear power plant in the temporarily occupied town of Enerhodar.
On the morning of September 1, Russian forces shelled Enerhodar using helicopters, guns and multiple launch rocket systems.
