Russians strike liberated Kupiansk with anti-aircraft guns

This morning Russian troops have struck the liberated city of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Region, with anti-aircraft guns.

The relevant statement was made by Kupiansk City Council Member Vadym Krokhmal during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“According to the available data, this morning the Russian military have struck the right-bank part of the city. They opened fire directly on civilians. With anti-aircraft guns. They are simply going mad [as they are retreating – Ed.],” Krokhmal told.

In his words, the damage caused is yet to be checked.

“Our military entered the city. This is what the General Staff has announced today. Kupiansk is divided into two parts by the Oskil. Today, on the right bank, where the central part of the city is, the situation has been challenging but fully controlled by our military. On the left bank, there are still minor issues. Mopping-up operations will continue,” Krokhmal noted.

According to Krokhmal, Russian invaders have left the city devastated. Communications are partially destroyed. Nevertheless, Krokhmal expressed hope they would be able to start the heating season, as soon as the city is fully de-occupied.

A reminder that Russian troops seized Kupiansk on February 27, 2022. On September 11, 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the Ukrainian forces had entered Kupiansk. The Ukrainian military continue to liberate the occupied settlements of Kharkiv Region’s Kupiansk District and Izium District.
