Torture chambers found in several settlements of Kharkiv region
Law enforcement officers discovered torture chambers in several settlements of Kharkiv region, where the Russians held people in absolutely inhumane conditions.
"In the territory of several settlements of Kharkiv region, we discovered, with the help of the local population, torture chambers in which our fellow citizens and foreigners were held in absolutely inhumane conditions. In particular, there were citizens of one of the Asian countries, foreign students, who tried to leave for the territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine," First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin told Radio NV in an interview, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, the Russian military stopped those foreigners, detained them unlawfully, and subjected them to torture.
The Ukrainian law enforcement officers now carefully document all these traces of Russian war crimes.
"Based on the experience of Bucha, we understand very well that the most heinous crimes can only be exposed with time. We have already seen some exhumated bodies not only with signs of violent death, but also torture – cut-off ears and so on. This is just the beginning," he said.
As reported, on September 13, the police informed that the Russians had set up a prison in the basement of the police department in Balakliya where they tortured local residents during the occupation.
