Protecting Ukrainian sky against Russian missiles to be a step towards the end of war – Zelensky

Protecting the Ukrainian sky against the Russian missile terror will be a fundamental step to end the war in the near future.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his online speech at a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I ask you at all levels – in politics, in the media, in communication with voters – to stand for providing a sufficient amount of air defense and anti-missile defense systems to Ukraine. As soon as this year we must protect our sky against the Russian terror. If we do so, it will be a fundamental step to end the war in the near future,” Zelensky said.

The President of Ukraine thanked Germany for the delivery of the first IRIS-T systems and expressed confidence that this would open opportunities for further air defense and anti-missile defense system deliveries, both from German partners and other manufacturers.

A reminder that the sixth meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group under the aegis of the United States took place on October 12, 2022. Ukraine’s air defense was one of the top priority issues on its agenda.
