Armed Forces of Ukraine repel Russian attacks in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv regions

During the day, the Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks near four populated settlements. Twenty airstrikes were launched on the invaders.

This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00, October 18, published on Facebook.

As noted, the Russian troops try to hold the temporarily captured territories and focus their efforts on restraining the actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in certain areas. At the same time, the enemy does not stop trying to go on the offensive in Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.

During the day, the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled Russian attacks in the areas of Ohirtseve, Kharkiv region, Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, Novokalynove and Marinka, Donetsk region.

The invaders shell the Ukrainian positions along the contact line, reinforce their defensive positions and lines in certain directions, and conduct aerial reconnaissance. Violating international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war, the enemy continues to strike critical infrastructure and civilian houses.

During the day, the Russian troops launched nine missile strikes and ten airstrikes, more than ten MLRS attacks.

The areas of more than 10 settlements, including Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kurakhove of Donetsk region, and Trykhaty of Mykolaiv region, came under enemy fire during the day.

According to the General Staff data, the Russians used cruise, aviation and anti-aircraft guided missiles to launch the strikes. In one direction, the invaders used four Iranian-made Shahed-136 UAVs, three of which were shot down by the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The situation has not changed significantly in Volyn and Polissia directions. The Republic of Belarus continues to support the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, providing its infrastructure and airspace.

There is a threat of missile and air strikes, as well as the use of Shahed-136 combat drones from the territory of Belarus.

In other directions, Russian troops opened fire. In particular, in Siversky direction, the enemy struck Yunakivka settlement of Sumy region with tube artillery.

In Slobozhansky direction, the invaders used mortars, tube and rocket artillery to attack the areas of Vovchanski Khutory, Hryhorivka, Komisarove, Ohirtseve, Starytsia, and Strilecha settlements. In Kupyansk direction, the Russians shelled the areas of Berestove, Hrianykivka, Dvorichne, Kamyanka, Krasne, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, and Stelmakhivka with different types of artillery.

In Lyman direction, Russian troops fired mortars, tube and rocket artillery in the areas of Bilohorivka, Hrekivka, Zarichne, Kovalivka, Nadia, Novoyehorivka, Olhivka, and Torske.

In Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions, the enemy opened fire from tanks and artillery along the contact line. The settlements of Bakhmut, Soledar, Pervomaiske and Velyka Novosilka were affected.

In Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, the Russians opened fire from mortars, tube and rocket artillery on Pavlivka and Prechystivka.

In Southern Buh direction, the invaders try to improve their logistics, shell military and civilian infrastructure. Settlements along the contact line, including Vyshchetarasivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, were struck.

Ukraine’s aviation launched 20 strikes during the day, hitting 13 areas of Russian weapons and military equipment build-up, a stronghold, seven air defense positions. The Ukrainian air defense units shot down five cruise missiles.

The missile and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit two Russian command posts, two areas of manpower, weapons and military equipment build-up, two air defense and artillery systems, two ammunition depots, and other military objects.
