Ukrainian forces repel Russian attacks near number of settlements in Donetsk region - General Staff
Units of the Ukrainian defense forces have repelled attacks by Russian troops outside the settlements of Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Novomykhailivka, Marinka, Nevelske, Pervomaiske, and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Facebook.
According to the General Staff, as of 18:00 on October 23, Russian troops are trying to hold temporarily captured territories and improve their tactical position. The enemy is concentrating its efforts on restraining the actions of the Ukrainian defense forces in separate directions, while conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.
To continue the war, Russia is replenishing units with mobilized persons and removing military equipment from storage.
The invaders are shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops along the contact line and conducting aerial reconnaissance. Today, the enemy once again carried out missile and air strikes on the infrastructure and homes of the civilian population, violating the norms of international humanitarian law, the laws and customs of warfare.
In total, Russian troops carried out two missile and 25 air strikes and about 30 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems.
Civil infrastructure in Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Novotavrycheske in the Zaporizhzhia region came under enemy attacks.
According to the General Staff, the situation has not changed significantly in the Volyn and Polissia directions. There is still a threat of missile and air strikes on Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities from Belarusian territory, in particular with the use of Iranian-made attack drones.
In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the Russians used mortars and artillery to fire at the areas of Yampolivka, Kamianka, and Bilohorivka.
In the Bakhmut direction, the invaders attacked the areas of Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Ozarianivka, Opytne, Soledar, and Yakovlivka in the Donetsk region with tanks, mortars, and artillery.
In the Avdiivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, tanks and artillery of various types were used outside Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Vodiane, Novomykhailivka, Marinka, Prechystivka, Novopil, Novosilka, and Zaliznychne.
In the Southern Bug direction, Russian troops attacked the military and civilian infrastructure of settlements located near the contact line. Nikopol and Illinka in the Dnipropetrovsk region were hit by artillery fire.
It was established that Russia's military command faces problems with the financial support of mobilized citizens. In the Kherson area, the demobilized Russian soldiers are poorly equipped, most of them lacking military shoes and other elements of clothing and equipment.
It is known that the mobilized personnel of the Russian troops are sent to war in view of the operational situation. The command does not pay attention to the level of their training.
"In this way, the Russian military leadership is trying to hold the front line. Due to the weak organization of interaction, there are frequent cases of so-called 'friendly fire' between enemy units," the General Staff said.
According to updated information, the destruction of enemy personnel and equipment on October 22 was confirmed. Four D-30 howitzers and three trucks with ammunition were destroyed in the area of the city of Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region, and about 50 Russian soldiers were killed and about 40 others were wounded. In one direction, two Russian Uragan multiple rocket launchers were damaged.
Aircraft of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out six strikes on October 23. The destruction of six areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment of the enemy was confirmed. Earlier today, air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 12 Shahed-136 drones.
Missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, for their part, hit a command post, five areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, an ammunition depot and an anti-aircraft missile complex of the Russian troops.
As of October 23, Russia lost about 67,470 soldiers in its war in Ukraine, including 400 in the past day alone.
