Zelensky, Steinmeier approve joint statement
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier approved a joint statement.
President Zelensky stated this during a joint press conference with President Steinmeier in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Today, Mr. President and I approved a joint statement of the presidents for the first time in the history of our bilateral relations. Among other things, it envisages personal patronage of Mr. President Steinmeier over the process of restoration of Chernihiv region," Zelensky said.
He also noted that Steinmeier visited Chernihiv region today.
"We agreed to promote the development of our relations not only at the highest and governmental levels, but also at the local level, which is very important in the context of decentralization reform in Ukraine. The network of Ukrainian-German municipal partnership will receive presidential patronage," Zelensky said.
In addition, according to him, the presidents discussed financial and further political support for Ukraine, “focusing on the issues of rebuilding Ukraine, which is needed now, especially ahead of the winter, and not only strategically after the end of the war."
"I’m grateful to Germany for a clear message to the political and corporate world that the reconstruction of Ukraine and investments in our country are the reconstruction and development of a future member of the European Union. I’m also grateful for Germany's willingness to continue helping us in maintaining energy sustainability," Zelensky emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived on a visit to Ukraine on October 25.
