U.S., Poland defense chiefs discuss support for Ukraine

United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Mariusz Błaszczak, Poland’s Minister of National Defense, to discuss joint efforts to support Ukraine’s defenses and strengthen NATO in the wake of Russian threats.

The parties discussed “the current security situation along NATO's Eastern Flank and joint efforts to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities.”

Secretary Austin praised Poland's “leadership in providing support to Ukraine.”

Also, the two leaders agreed to continue to work closely together to enhance Alliance deterrence and defense.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, last Friday, the Pentagon announced a new defense and security aid package to Ukraine worth $275 million.
