Ukrainian forces destroy 278 Russian aircraft since invasion - Zaluzhnyi
Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders have destroyed twice as many Russian aircraft as the Soviet Union lost during a ten-year war in Afghanistan.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said this in a statement on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"During the full-scale aggression, Ukrainian defenders destroyed twice as many Russian aircraft as the Soviet Union lost during a 10-year war in Afghanistan - 278 Russian aircraft in Ukraine against 118 Soviet aircraft in Afghanistan," Zaluzhnyi wrote.
He also said that "this war is the same shame for the Russian Federation and will be the reason for its destruction."
Between February 24 and November 3, the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed about 74,000 Russian soldiers and destroyed 258 hostile helicopters.
