OC ‘South’: There is currently no critical threat from Transnistria
Russia is trying to destabilize the situation in Moldova, while the contingent of Russian troops in Transnistria does not currently pose a critical threat to Ukraine.
As the Operational Command "South" posted on Facebook, supporters of the pro-Russian party "Shor" organize anti-government protests in Moldova, neighboring Ukraine’s Odesa and Vinnytsia regions. In this way, Russia uses hidden agents of special services to destabilize the situation in the country.
"Fearing Moldovan residents’ sympathy for the Ukrainians, Moscow wants to make the most of people's social discontent: to persuade the Moldovan government to cooperate because of economic issues," the report reads.
The Ukrainian military emphasizes that these socio-political adventures are not successful.
"The contingent of ruscist troops in Transnistria currently does not pose a critical threat. But the Defense Forces of Ukraine are closely monitoring the situation," the Operational Command "South" added.
