Army fully ready to respond to any “challenges” from Belarus - Deputy Defense Minister
Ukraine’s military leadership receives information on the situation in Belarus and currently sees no offensive capabilities on the part of the enemy up north. At the same time, the Defense Forces are in a state of full readiness to respond to any challenges that could emerge from the territory of Belarus.
That’s according to Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar, who spoke on the air of the national telethon.
"Ukraine monitors everything that is happening, all the information is known to us – who is moving where, and in what numbers. Indeed, there is movement, but it’s always been there. Throughout the invasion, there has been a constant movement of equipment and personnel across the territory of Belarus. It is known that Russia uses the territory of Belarus for its military purposes. Is there a threat? This is war and Russia - just as we assume all possible scenarios - develops all possible scenarios, too. The fact that there can be a backup option is out there, and this can be seen. But from the point of view of what the military reports, it is impossible to say directly that sufficient forces have been accumulated for an invasion to take place right now. On the other hand, this possibility cannot be completely ruled out," said Maliar.
She added that this is why the Armed Forces are in a state of readiness to instantly respond to any challenges from the north. In particular, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are constantly training to be able to respond to such challenges.
As Ukrinform reported, Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman for the State Security Service of Ukraine, said that as of November 21, the situation on the border with Belarus remains under control, without significant changes. At the same time, powerful means of radar control are being employed on the territory of Belarus to make it more difficult for Ukraine to monitor the border.
