US may label Russia's Wagner Group mercenaries as terrorist organization - media

The White House is weighing whether to label Russia's Wagner Group as a foreign terrorist organization.

That's according to Bloomberg, Ukrinform reports.

Two people familiar with the matter said the Biden administration had made no final decision on the designation.

Labeling Wagner a foreign terrorist organization would allow the US to pursue criminal prosecution against the group and its members, as well as go after its assets around the globe. According to the report, the Wagner Group plays an important role in Russia's hostilities against Ukraine and is increasing its presence in Africa.
