Two civilians dead after their car drives over mine near Izium
In the Izyum district of Kharkiv region, a car ran over an explosive device, as a result of which two men in the car were killed.
That’s according to the Kharkiv region Police Department, Ukrinform reports.
"The men were heading home to the village of Pashkove of the Barvinky territorial community in a VAZ 2106 when contact was lost with them," the report says.
The police established that on December 1, the car hit an explosive device on a field road. The vehicle sustained significant mechanical damage. The two men, 59 and 44, died in the incident.
Investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is noted that the territory where the tragedy unfolded had been under the control of the Russian occupation forces for several months.
As reported, a farmer was killed in Krasnopillia, Sumy region: in order to avoid collision with an oncoming vehicle on a narrow section of the road, he swerved to the side of the road where his car drove over a Russian mine.
