Next six months to be decisive in fight with Russia in many respects - Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine believes that the next six months will be decisive in many respects in repelling Russian aggression.
He stated this in an online address to the European Council, Ukrinform reports.
"The next six months will be decisive in many respects in the confrontation that Russia started with their aggression. Aggression against Ukraine and against each of you, because Russia's final target is much farther than our border and Ukrainian sovereignty. The next six months will demand from us even greater efforts than were undertaken over the past period," the head of state emphasized.
Zelensky said Russia's energy terror must be defeated in all forms.
He also urged partners to ensure Ukraine's winter stability and continue to do everything to support the energy supply to Ukrainians.
The president emphasized that further defense support for Ukraine is also needed, which should be no smaller than in the past six months.
"We need more modern weapons, a larger volume of supplies," Zelensky noted.
In addition, he called on the Europeans to support the Ukrainian peace formula.
The president added that December 23 will mark half a year since Ukraine received the status of a candidate for EU membership, and during this time "Ukraine and all of Europe have become stronger, we maintain unity, and that is why we find effective responses to any anti-European challenges."
The head of state noted that Ukrainians, together with the EU countries, defend common values and achieve "tangible victories". He recalled that Kharkiv region, part of Kherson region, and the city of Kherson were liberated from Russian invaders in the last six months.
"This liberation showed the world that our common defense is not something accidental, but our inalienable strength that can’t be stopped," Zelensky said, thanking the EU for "large-scale and multifaceted assistance" to Ukraine.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented in November the Ukrainian Peace Formula. In particular, it is about radiation, nuclear, food, and energy security, the release of all POWs and deportees, implementation of the UN Charter, and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order, withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities, the return of justice, countering ecocide, preventing escalation, and fixation of the end of the war.
