Iceland has provided assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces -- about 12,000 pieces of winter clothing, including merino wool socks and sweaters, hats, winter gloves, shoes and outerwear.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in a post on Facebook.

"The 'country of geysers' organized a nationwide knitting marathon, in particular woolen socks and sweaters for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The leadership of Iceland was directly involved in this process," the post said.

Cargo is accounted for, distributed and handed over to representatives of the logistics units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The lion's share of clothing will be delivered to two combat brigades. Part will be given to military hospitals, firefighters and repair workers.
