Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes providing the Patriot battery systems to Ukraine is an important step towards creating an air shield over the country.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with United States President Joseph Biden in Washington, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“This [providing the Patriot air defense systems – Ed.] is an important step towards creating an air shield for Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the new security assistance package from the United States, which was announced on Wednesday, and its “strongest element”, the Patriot air defense systems.
