Another mass burial site found in de-occupied areas of Kherson region

Thirty-six more graves were discovered at the cemetery in the settlement of geologists near Kherson after the territory was liberated from Russian invaders.

“Earlier, in the village of Pravdyno, Kherson district, the grave of several people with traces of torture and gunshot wounds was discovered. The discovered corpses were exhumed and sent for forensic examination,” First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin said, the Ministry’s press service informs.

Another 36 graves were found at the cemetery in the settlement of geologists near Kherson. “There is a mass grave in which the servicemen were also buried. In total, during the period of occupation, morgues received about 700 bodies, of which about 100 had injuries received during the military operations. The identities of 12 of them have not been established so far,” said the deputy minister

According to him, work is currently underway to quickly collect DNA samples from relatives to identify the victims.

Yenin also informed about the results of the exhumation of bodies in Izium, Kharkiv region. "More than 450 bodies were removed from the burial sites... It has been preliminarily established that some people died from gunshot wounds and mine blast injuries," said a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to him, signs of torture were found in at least 40 people in Izium.

Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers carry out all necessary investigative actions and measures aimed at both identifying the bodies and establishing the circumstances under which these persons died and the perpetrators of the war crimes.

As reported, on September 10, Ukrainian troops liberated Izium, Kharkiv region, from the Russian invaders. The town was controlled by the Russian troops from the beginning of April.

On September 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that more than 400 bodies, including those with signs of torture, had been found in a mass grave in liberated Izium.
