Ukrainian air defense shoots down 12 out of 20 missiles launched by Russia — Zaluzhnyi
On Saturday, December 31, Russia fired more than 20 cruise missiles at Ukraine, and 12 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces.
According to Ukrinform, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said this in a post on Telegram.
"Today, the terrorist state Russia again launched a massive missile attack on civilian objects in our country. According to initial information, the enemy launched more than 20 air-based cruise missiles using Tu-95ms strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea and ground-based missile systems," he said.
According to him, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down six missiles in the Kyiv region, five in the Zhytomyr region and one in the Khmelnytskyi region.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, one person was killed and 16 people were injured in a missile attack on the Ukrainian capital on December 31.
In the Khmelnytskyi region, the missile attack left seven people injured, three of them in serious condition.
