Two women killed as Russian forces hit Bakhmut with artillery

Two women were killed in Russia's artillery shelling of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, on January 4.

According to Ukrinform, the Donetsk regional police said this in a post on Facebook.

"A Russian shell killed two women in Bakhmut. Today, at around noon, Russian troops hit the city with artillery. One of the shells hit the road. Shrapnel fatally injured two elderly women," the report reads.

The women were in an extremely dangerous area and could not quickly hide from the shelling.

Earlier reports said that the Russian army killed one resident of the Donetsk region and wounded five more on January 3.
