Ukrainian soldiers repel assault, capture enemy's positions in Bakhmut area

Soldiers of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, together with the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, repelled an enemy assault in the Bakhmut area and captured the enemy's positions in a counterattack. During the battle, the Ukrainian defenders killed nine Russian soldiers and wounded about 20 invaders.

That's according to the State Border Guard Service, Ukrinform reports.

"Russian invaders continue their offensive on Bakhmut. In this fortress city, together with their comrades from the Defense Forces of Ukraine, units of the State Border Guard Service are holding their positions," the report said.

According to the report, under the cover of artillery, enemy attack aircraft tried to capture one of the forward positions of the Ukrainian defenders. The border guards waited for the artillery attack in shelters, and when the enemy infantry approached, they opened fire.

As a result, the attempt to storm Russian troops failed. Having suffered losses, the enemy began to flee.

"Seeing the panicked departure of the invaders, the Ukrainian border guards counterattacked together with the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With a rapid attack, our fighters occupied enemy positions, and the enemy continued to withdraw," the State Border Guard Service reported.

According to the report, as of this time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced 300 meters and are securing new positions.
