Reznikov: Ukraine should produce everything – from shells to missiles
Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov advocates developing the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and believes that the weapons tested during the war unleashed by Russia will be highly valued in the markets in the future.
"This [war] is definitely a challenge for the Ukrainian military industry, both for the state and private sector, and an opportunity. And most importantly, everything tested in this war in Ukraine will tomorrow have the top quality mark in any market. That's why, I fiercely support the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and I'm ready to do everything that depends on me for it," Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said in an interview as part of the nationwide news telethon.
The minister believes that it is necessary to develop the national military industry as quickly as possible because this is also a guarantee of Ukraine's independence; international partners supply weapons now but they may stop doing it.
"That's why we have to produce everything: guns, shells, tanks, planes, missiles, etc.," the minister emphasized.
He also said that there were many examples when partners did not provide Ukraine with certain types of weapons because they "were afraid of escalation", and after the Ukrainians used their weapons, foreign weapons of this type began to arrive. Thus, according to Reznikov, Harpoon anti-ship missiles were received after the Ukrainian Neptune missiles destroyed the Russian warship Moskva.
"There are many such examples. That is, they start giving us something when they see that we are doing it anyway," he added.
The minister emphasized that Ukrainian Neptune, Stuhna, Corsar, Vilkha and other types of weapons are no worse, and often even better than similar foreign types of weapons.
