Italy ready to send more weapons to Ukraine – foreign minister
Italy's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has said that Italy is ready to send a new batch of military aid to Ukraine to help defend itself against Russian troops who are carrying out a full-scale invasion of the country.
That's according to ANSA, Ukrinform reports.
"We are doing everything we can for Ukraine. We are ready to send more weapons. [...] Obviously, the parliament will be informed before we do so. We have sent over 50 tonnes of electrical material for the reconstruction of the power grid destroyed by the Russian attacks," Tajani said.
According to him, the Italian side is currently in talks with France about air defense weapons for Ukraine.
"We also reiterated our intention to support the total independence of Ukraine in yesterday's meeting between Premier Giorgia Meloni and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida," Tajani said.
Tajani said on January 10 that Italy intends to supply Ukraine with an air defense system to protect against Russian attacks, but Rome needs to resolve technical issues before it is sent.
