Russia currently focused on Ukraine’s east, but unexpected blow to south possible - OC South spox
The Russian army is concentrating offensive forces in the east of Ukraine, but the southern region also remains under threat.
This was stated by the spokeswoman for Operational Command South Natalia Humeniuk, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The fact that they are transferring more prepared forces to the east – it is clear that their priority is now focused there. But the southern region has always remained in their field of vision, they do not let go of it and keep it as an additional area on which an unexpected active strike can be delivered," Humeniuk said.
She emphasized that Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to monitor enemy tactics, being prepared for any developments. According to the spokeswoman, monitoring of the Russian naval group showed that "(missile) carriers can deploy and go to their bases even without special reasons."
As reported, as of the morning of February 4, Russia keeps nine warships on combat duty in the Black Sea, while none of them carry Kalibr cruise missiles.
