Evacuation efforts underway in Vuhledar: One child remaining in city
The police have evacuated a family with two children from the Donetsk region’s Vuhledar, which is under continuous enemy fire now. One child is remaining in the city.
The relevant statement was made by Donetsk Region’s Police on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The situation in the city is extremely tense now. The police persuaded a family with two children to evacuate, but people asked for a few days to pack things.
“As the situation aggravated, these few days turned into weeks. Law enforcement officers were monitoring the situation so as not to put the family in danger. As soon as it became possible, they went after the family,” the report states.
A couple with their 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were living in a basement of the apartment block on the outskirts of Vuhledar, on the side of occupied Pavlivka. Russian invaders were already entering this area.
Law enforcement officers provided children with special bulletproof vests and helmets, and took them together with their parents and a pet to Kurakhove, where they were accommodated in a shelter. Later, with the help of volunteers, they went to their relatives in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
A reminder that, on February 6, 2023, one civilian was killed and five injured in Russia’s shelling of the Donetsk region.
