Zelensky: Russian missiles in Moldovan, Romanian airspace “challenge to NATO and collective security”
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine considers Russian missiles violating the Moldovan and Romanian airspace as another proof that terror knows no borders, while Ukraine protects Europe and the whole world.
The president addressed the topic in his latest video address, seen by Ukrinform.
"Several Russian missiles passed through the airspace of Moldova and Romania. Another proof that terror knows and will know no borders, another proof that protecting Ukraine is protecting all of Europe and the world, every country that simply wants to live its life. Today's missiles are a challenge to NATO and collective security. This is terror that can and must be stopped. The world must stop it," Zelensky emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, stated that on February 10, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed the state border of Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova and entered Romania’s airspace, after which they re-entered the Ukrainian airspace at the crossing point of the three borders. According to Zaluzhnyi, the missiles were launched from the Black Sea.
Moldova’s defense ministry confirmed the violation of the country's airspace at 10:18 local time on Friday. The missile flew over the village of Mocra in the Rybnyta district, Transnistria, and then over Cosăuți in the Soroca District.
Romania’s ministry of defense said that no Russian missiles had crossed into the country’s airspace on Friday and that the closest a missile flew to the Romanian border was nearly 35 km northeast.
