Border guards shot down a Russian attack aircraft over Bakhmut, Donetsk region, on Saturday, February 11.

“Today, fighters of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reduced the aircraft fleet of the Russian occupying forces by one combat vehicle. This is the second confirmed jet destroyed by MANPADS squad of the border guard’s unit,” reads the report published on the website of the State Border Guard Service.

The State Border Guard Service notes that it was possible to hit an aerial target, presumably a Su-25 attack aircraft, from a foreign-made portable anti-aircraft missile system. The aircraft went up in smoke after being hit by a MANPADS missile and began a sharp descent.

"The aircraft crashed after hitting the ground - our defenders saw flames and plumes of black smoke. Probably, the pilot ‘demilitarized’ together with the attack aircraft, Ukrainian defenders did not see his ejection," the report said.

As Ukrinform reported, from February 24, 2022 to February 11, 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 136,880 Russian troops, including 1,140 invaders over the past day alone.
