German Leopard tanks expected to arrive in Ukraine by end of March – Pistorius

German Leopard tanks are expected to arrive in Ukraine not later than the last week of March.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told reporters in Munich, where the security conference is underway, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

When asked whether these tanks will change the situation around Bakhmut, Pistorius didn’t give a direct answer, but noted that "it will depend on the strategy of the Armed Forces."

"The first tanks will arrive very soon," said Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz during a discussion at the Munich Security Conference.

He added that the training of the Ukrainian military had already begun.

In general, Scholz described the situation with the tank coalition as "a very difficult case." Germany is actively working to ensure that all countries that promised to hand over tanks do so, he said.

The chancellor stressed that Germany hands over moderns tanks, but other countries can transfer older models.

As reported, the 59th Munich Security Conference is taking place from February 17 to 19, 2023 in Munich, Germany.
