Blinken: We’re scouring every corner of Earth for appropriate ammunition for Ukraine

The United States, together with its allies and partners, is making daily efforts to find or produce appropriate ammunition for the weapons used by Ukraine against Russian aggression.

“I can tell you that pretty much every single day we are scouring every corner of the Earth for the appropriate ammunition for Ukraine,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at the Munich Security Conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He explained that the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently have various types of weapons in service which require different missiles, projectiles, mines, and other ammunition.

“Ukraine has had its own inventories, a lot of Soviet-era weaponry that uses one type of ammunition. Some of the NATO systems that are being supplied to Ukraine, use another type,” Blinken said calling the situation a challenge.

According to him, the stockpiles of the countries that help Ukraine did not account for such needs. So now the production lines of the corresponding weapons and ammunition have been moving again.
