Volunteers, police officers come under enemy fire in Kherson region. Five people injured
Volunteers and police officers came under enemy fire in the village of Zmiivka, Beryslav district, Kherson region. Three civilians and two police officers were injured.
"During another call-out, the police and a car with volunteers from Kryvyi Rih came under enemy fire. The police car was riddled with shrapnel and received mechanical damage, and the volunteers' car turned into a scrap metal pile," the Kherson region police reported.
The incident happened in the village of Zmiivka in Beryslav district. The police investigative and operational team received a call-out from that area, and the volunteers were going to the village to evacuate a pensioner and were carrying humanitarian aid. Upon arrival, the police reported that they and another car came under heavy fire, a projectile slammed into the car. After that, contact with the officers was lost. Three civilians and two police officers were injured.
The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were the first to help the injured and took the volunteers with serious injuries to hospital. The police officers reached the healthcare facility on their own. They were diagnosed with contusions and brain bruises.
