Germany hands Ukraine two more Gepard self-propelled guns with ammo

Ukraine’s Armed Forces have received from Germany another two Gepard self-propelled guns and other defense assistance.

This is reported by Ukrinform, citing a statement by the German government.

According to the updated list of defense assistance provided to Ukraine, the latest two Gepard anti-aircraft guns delivered to Ukraine bring their total number in Ukraine to 34. In the latest aid package, 6,000 ammunition sets were also transferred.

In addition to self-propelled guns, two patrol vehicles for border guards (previously Ukraine received 120 such vehicles) and six mobile antenna systems (in addition to the already available 24 units) were delivered to Ukraine.

The aid was transferred from Germany’s industrial stocks.

The new commitments by the German government include 13 BEAVER bridge-laying tanks and 500 SFP9 handguns.

The German Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of 18 Leopard main battle tanks by the end of March. The Iris-T air defense system is also due to arrive soon, in addition to the first one delivered last year.

Germany has provided the largest military aid to Ukraine among EU nations.
