Zelensky thanks troops defending Bakmut
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian military who defend the city of Bakhmut from the Russian onslaught.
The president spoke in a video address to the nation on Saturday night, Ukrinform reports.
"I especially thank everyone who defends Bakhmut day after day. It’s precisely the ongoing battles there, in these parts of Donbas - Vuhledar, Bakhmut, Maryinka, Bilohorivka, Avdiivka, and Kamianka – allow us to bring security back to Ukraine and to all of Europe, to every nation that values their freedom and the integrity of their land," Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to the Commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, in the battles for Bakhmut, Russian invaders have involved all available capabilities, now trying to penetrate Ukraine’s defenses on several axes, while in some areas, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have partial success.
