National Guardsmen hold off Russian attack near Bakhmut
In the Bakhmut direction, the National Guard of Ukraine repelled Russian attack overnight. Ten invaders were killed in action.
According to Ukrinform, the NGU press service reported this on Facebook.
"Over the past 24 hours on the Bakhmut axis, the Guard's Rubizh Rapid Response Brigade liquidated 10 invaders," the statement reads.
The National Guard notes that the enemy continues their assault efforts targeting Ukraine’s positions. Most of the hostile units consist of recruited convicts and mercenaries with the Wagner Group, the report adds.
"Russian commanders see their subordinates as expendables. Despite strong resistance on the part of defenders, the enemy attacks in groups of up to ten. The dynamics of the assaults is quite high," the press service emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the commander of Ukrainian Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, says intense fighting is taking place along the entire front line in the country’s east. The defense operation around Bakhmut continues.
