Russians reinforce positions with Wagner Group elements near Avdiivka – ISW

Russian invaders are reinforcing their exhausted and lower quality units near Avdiivka with the Wagner Group elements.

The relevant statement was made by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Russian military leadership likely committed limited higher quality Wagner Group elements to the offensive on Avdiivka, potentially to reinforce recent limited tactical successes in the area,” the report states.

According to the ISW, Russian military leadership may have decided to deploy certain Wagner elements to the Avdiivka area in recent weeks to support the exhausted and lower quality elements of the so-called ‘DPR’ in their efforts to take the settlement.

A reminder that, according to the UK intelligence, Russia’s assault on the Donetsk region’s Bakhmut largely stalled, which had been likely primarily a result of extreme attrition of the Russian force.
