Zaluzhnyi thanks Ukrainian defenders on first anniversary of liberation of Chernihiv region
As Ukraine marks the one-year anniversary of the liberation of the Chernihiv region, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has thanked all those who participated in the defense of the region from Russian invaders.
Zaluzhnyi reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
He recalled that by April 6, 2022, Ukraine's defense forces had completely liberated the Chernihiv region from Russian troops and regained control over the state border of Ukraine in the northern operational area.
"Thanks to the heroic deeds of Ukrainian soldiers, the enemy suffered significant losses in manpower, weapons, and military equipment. The enemy was unable to achieve its goal on the battlefield, so it focused on terror against the civilian population," Zaluzhnyi said.
He emphasized that all criminals must be punished.
"I thank everyone who defended the Chernihiv region, everyone who is fighting for Ukraine," he added.
