War update: Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka remain the hottest spots in eastern Ukraine
Russian occupation troops are conducting the most active hostilities near such settlements as Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka. In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders have repelled over 20 enemy attacks.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The enemy continues to focus efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions,” the report states.
Over the past day, Russian troops have launched four missile strikes and seven air strikes, and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) over 10 times, namely on the positions of Ukrainian forces and civil infrastructure. The threat of Russian missile attacks is persisting all over Ukraine.
In the Volyn, Polissia, Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the situation remained rather unchanged. No enemy offensive groupings were detected. The enemy continues to keep certain military units within the border areas of the Kursk and Bryansk regions.
Over the past day, Russian invaders have opened fire on the Chernihiv region’s Leonivka, and the Kharkiv region’s Veterynarne, Neskuchne, Ohirtseve, Tykhe, Bochkove, Chuhunivka, Zarubynka, Starytsia and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy shelled the Kharkiv region’s Topoli, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Krokhmalne, Berestove; and the Luhansk region’s Novoselivske.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Luhansk region’s Spirne. The enemy launched artillery strikes on the Luhansk region’s Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka, and the Donetsk region’s Terny, Spirne and Rozdolivka.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian occupiers continue conducting offensive actions and trying to establish full control over the city of Bakhmut. Fierce battles are underway. Over the past day, the enemy has been conducting unsuccessful offensive actions near Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Bohdanivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled about 10 enemy attacks within that frontline section. Russian attacks affected over 15 settlements situated within the contact line, such as the Donetsk region’s Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Dyliivka and Shumy.
In the Avdiivka and Marinka directions, Russian invaders were conducting offensive actions near Novokalynove, Sieverne, Pervomaiske and Marinka but had no success. The fiercest battles are underway for Marinka, where 13 enemy attacks were repelled.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops did not conduct any offensive operations. The enemy opened fire on the Donetsk region’s Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian occupiers are expanding defensive frontiers and positions. Over 15 settlements came under enemy fire, including the Donetsk region’s Vremivka; the Zaporizhzhia region’s Huliaipole. Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske; and the city of Kherson.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched six strikes on enemy personnel and military equipment clusters. Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit two enemy personnel clusters, two fuel depots, and one electronic warfare system.
According to the General Staff, Russian troops continue suffering huge personnel losses. Local health facilities are fully loaded within the temporarily occupied areas. In one of the Simferopol district’s settlements, a tent camp was set up for the injured Russian invaders. As of April 4, 2023, about 100 enemy soldiers were undergoing rehabilitation there.
