Reznikov: Ukraine needs 5,000 experts for demining

About 5,000 specialists, as well as operators from other countries, are needed to demine Ukrainian territories.

"We plan to create a potential of at least five thousand Ukrainian specialists who will be engaged in demining. This is not taking into account specialists from other countries," Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa, Ukrinform reports.

As noted, it will take 30 years to clear all the mines and explosives from Ukraine’s territory if the country moves at the pace of Croatia, where mines are still being found.

"Modern landmine detection technologies, such as drones (water, underwater, air, and land) can shorten this process, but still the amount of work is very large. This is a huge challenge for the recovery of Ukraine," Reznikov said.

Denmark, among other countries, provides demining equipment, the minister emphasized.
