Ukrainian Armed Forces: Russians achieved some successes in Bakhmut sector exclusively by "meat assaults"

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have stated that the Russian forces, including the Wagner mercenaries, who have been active in the Bakhmut sector, will not be a powerful military unit of Russia in the short term and will face the same fate as ISIS in the future.

The spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Cherevatyi, said this on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Wagnerites will be the same as another ISIS terrorist group. They are now suffering huge losses in the Bakhmut direction. And if they do not find a new source of manpower, and it is increasingly difficult to do this in Russian prisons, and in addition, there are disagreements between the general staff and the armed forces of the aggressor and Prigozhin (the leader of the Wagner PMC - ed.), all this will lead to the fact that in the short term, Wagner will cease to be a powerful military unit," Cherevatyi said.

According to him, throughout the entire military campaign, the Russian military leadership did not demonstrate any new tactics or know-how unlike the Ukrainian headquarters. Cherevatyi noted that all they achieved in the Bakhmut direction were some individual successes through "meat assaults" exclusively.

"This was the only thing that allowed them to achieve at least something. Now they are also operating in small tactical groups, but with reinforcement from the regular army. The logic here is simple: the Wagner terrorist organization lacks forces," he said.

According to Cherevatyi, if we look at the previous ISIS terrorist group, they were similar to Wagner in their exceptional cruelty to members, enemies, and civilians. "But they also ended up being defeated and persecuted around the world. The same thing will happen to the Wagnerites," he believes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has stated that the invaders are attempting to take full control of the city of Bakhmut, and fierce fighting is ongoing.

In the past day, Ukrainian defense forces have destroyed 126 enemy combatants, an airborne combat vehicle, a radar station, and six ammunition depots in the Bakhmut sector.
