War update: Ukraine Army repels over 45 enemy attacks in four directions
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have repelled over 45 Russian attacks in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Russian invaders continue focusing efforts on conducting offensive operations in the aforementioned directions, using operational-tactical and combat aircraft. Bakhmut and Marinka are remaining the epicenter of hostilities.
“The Russian Federation continues to wage a war of aggression, completely ignores international humanitarian law, and continues to attack Ukraine’s territory with anti-aircraft guided missiles and open fire on non-military objects,” the report states.
Over the past day, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched five strikes on enemy personnel clusters and one Russian air defense missile system.
The Ukrainian military shot down two enemy Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), one Eleron reconnaissance UAV, and one Lancet suicide drone.
Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit one Russian command post, one air defense missile system, one enemy personnel, ammunition and military equipment cluster, one fuel depot and two ammunition depots.
Meanwhile, Russian troops launched 25 strikes with the S-300 missile systems. The enemy targeted peaceful settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region (Zaporizhzhia and Komyshuvakha), as well as the Mykolaiv region’s Snihurivka.
Additionally, Russian invaders launched 28 air strikes and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) four times, namely on the positions of Ukrainian defenders and civil infrastructure.
As a result of Russian attacks, casualties among civilians were reported. Apartment blocks and detached houses were damaged or destroyed, as well as educational institutions, hospitals, churches and other civil infrastructure objects.
In the Volyn, Polissia, Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, no enemy offensive groups were detected. Some Russian military units are staying within the territory of Belarus and in the border areas of Russia’s Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions.
Over the past day, Russian troops have opened fire on the Sumy region’s Svesa, Buniakyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Shpyl, Volfyne, Yunakivka and Basivka; the Kharkiv region’s Veterynarne, Neskuchne, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha and Zemlianky.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian invaders shelled the Kharkiv region’s Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne and Kindrashivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian occupiers conducted unsuccessful offensive actions to the north of Hryhorivka and near Spirne. The enemy launched artillery strikes on the Luhansk region’s Stelmakhivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka; the Donetsk region’s Ivanivka and Spirne.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops continue conducting offensive actions. The battles for Bakhmut are underway. Near Khromove and Ivanivske, Russian invaders launched attacks but had no success.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian occupiers conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Donetsk region’s Novokalynove, Sieverne, Vodiane and Pervomaiske. Fifteen settlements came under enemy fire.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks near Marinka. Additionally, Russians shelled the Donetsk region’s Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops did not conduct offensive actions. The enemy opened fire on the Donetsk region’s Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka and Vremivka.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian invaders continue holding defense and shelling settlements. In particular, the enemy struck the Donetsk region’s Vremivka and Novopil; the Zaporizhzhia region’s Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske; the Kherson region’s Kherson, Dudchany, Beryslav, Vesele, Burhunka, Bilozerka and Dniprovske.
According to the General Staff, Russian troops continue suffering huge losses. In the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine, all health facilities are full of the injured Russian soldiers.
In the Zaporizhzhia region’s Vysoke, Russians set up a military hospital in a school sports hall. As of April 15, 2023, about 100 invaders with injuries of various severity levels were undergoing treatment there.
Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to rob civilians, seizing their grain crops. In the Zaporizhzhia region’s Berdiansk, Russian occupation authorities are loading a barge with the stolen corn to take it away.
At the same time, Russian occupiers continue forced passportization efforts within the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine. In the Kherson region’s Tavriia, Russians inspect households to check for Russian passports. Those citizens of Ukraine who have not yet received this document are requested to obtain it before June 1, 2023. Otherwise, people are threatened with deportation, including the seizure of personal property.
