The Ombudsman's Office has dozens of videos showing execution of Ukrainian soldiers by Russians
Over the past nine months, the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has received dozens of videos showing the public execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian invaders.
According to Ukrinform, Lubinets stated this in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
"In the past nine months, we have received several dozen videos showing the public execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian military. These videos show beheadings, genital mutilations, cutting off of ears, noses, limbs, and phalanges on hands, various videos that are publicly recorded by Russian soldiers themselves," Lubinets said.
According to him, some of these criminals have already been identified, and one of them has been killed in a combat clash with Ukrainian defenders.
Lubinets believes that the enemy is releasing such videos on purpose for several reasons. Firstly, to maintain the degree of anti-Ukrainian hysteria, to demonstrate to the Russians themselves how they kill residents of the neighboring country because, for them, "Ukrainians are not people." The second reason is to motivate their military not to surrender so that they believe that Ukrainians will kill them in the same way. "And then they want to tie their soldiers in blood because they realize that this is a direct crime. That's it, there is no turning back," he added.
The ombudsman suggested that the enemy is trying to intimidate Ukrainian soldiers so that they do not attack and are afraid of being beheaded in captivity. "Maybe they think this can stop us. I think that it motivates all Ukrainian soldiers to liberate our cities, our territories, and return our heroes who are in captivity even faster," he added.
Lubinets also emphasized that Russia once again demonstrates that it has remained in the Middle Ages and does not recognize international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The Russians do not hesitate to distribute videos of them killing unarmed people who are considered prisoners of war by all canons.
As reported, videos of Russians cutting off the head of a Ukrainian prisoner of war were posted on the Internet. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are taking measures to identify the perpetrators of this crime.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that every world leader should respond to this crime.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine appealed to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to demand urgent attention to the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner by the Russian military in the context of the investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Ukraine by the Russians.
